Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

I'm reaching out on behalf of DaQuan Thornton, a vibrant young soul facing an uphill battle suffering with schizoaffective. At an early age he was diagnosed with this aggressive disease. Despite his unwavering spirit, the financial strain of treatments, doctor visits, ongoing medical care, and patient residency is immense.

I want to thank everyone who has donated to this cause thus far. It has been a long journey and an uphill battle, and I am thankful for how far we have come. I am happy to say since Aug 23rd, 2023, DaQuan has received 3 injections and I have observed some positive changes. He has his good and bad days...and I am right there by his side for them all!

Unfortunately, as of Nov, 27th, 2023 DaQuan was denied Disability. He was told that he doesn’t have enough work history. This is primarily due to his inability to gain employment resulting from his disease. I had high hopes as this would have opened SO MANY doors for DaQuan (peer-to-peer activities, group homes residency, etc). Not only has he been denied SSI he was also denied Food Stamps and Medicaid. This has been a devastating blow to us.

My son is so bright and SO TALENTED, but his opportunity to express them has been hampered due to his ailment. DaQuan’s days are filled with doctor appointments, hospital visits, therapy sessions, and the physical toll of this illness. The mounting medical bills and living expenses have added stress to his already challenging journey towards recovery.

I have to work excessively so I can make money to pay for his food and living expenses…As a single mother, I have a 13yr old, personal bills, as well as other expenses...I am doing the very best I can and its a very difficult challenge because I cannot be everything to DaQuan as…he needs a community of people that want to love and spend quality time with him. Doing this alone is A HUGE BURDEN!!!

As his loved ones, as well as those caring individuals who can help, we are seeking your generosity to assist toward alleviating the financial burden which will allow DaQuan to focus on his health.

The funds raised will directly contribute to covering the overwhelming medical expenses, including treatments, medications, and necessary therapies, as well as his living quarters. Every contribution, no matter the amount, is a lifeline for DaQuan's fight for healing and return to a quality life.
