Please Read and Help us Keep the Family Home
2 years ago Trisha and Meadow were in a horrific car accident that claimed the life of Meadow (age 7) and left Trisha in bad shape. We did a fundraiser at that time to help with medical expenses and any ongoing medical bills or emergency. We appreciated so much the help everyone has offered her and the ongoing support, however there is a clincher to this already horrific story.
Meadow's dad Ian took her to court for the fundraiser money, the house, the estate account and to argue child support and daycare arrears. (Please note, that Trisha was not trying to keep the SGI estate account, it was to be split between both parents. Trisha has also been asking for a divorce for 7 years, and Ian kept dodging the papers and ignoring the lawyer requests and moved out of province)
He owed:
$9100 to the town of grand coulee that TRISHA paid out of pocket to keep the house from being seized (she moved back in as he left it in rough shape) Trisha originally left the family home to Ian with the agreement that he would keep up on all maintenance and bills. This didn't happen.
$29,000 for child support and daycare arrears as he chose not to pay for any of it in the 6 years they were apart. He also only saw Meadow a handful of times in this period.
$14,000 line of credit that he borrowed against the family home to pay it off, and Trisha ended up paying off.

WHAT HAPPENED IN COURT
* We are mind blown, and don't know what happened to be honest, but here is the judgement:
The judgement granted him $49,147.00 from the house and $15,620.00 from the SGI money. It cleared him of $9,700 in child support and daycare arrears (because a child who passes away is no longer considered a child of the marriage) and $9,100 in land tax bills that TRISHA had to pay.

In addition to the $17,000 in legal fees from him dragging her through court.

WHY WE NEED HELP
At this point, Trisha has come up with 80% of the funds she needs by selling her stuff, cashing in RRSPs and stocks, the fundraiser money, and the money from SGI and anything else she has. She still owes Ian $9713. 00 and $8500 to the lawyer (Ian said he was going to bankrupt her in fees so she will "lose everything" and it looks like he is succeeding) When asked WHY he was doing this to her, Ian's response was "because I can, and I'm still mad she left" this is not okay.

I KNOW we've asked for a lot of help already, but I am asking for more at this moment.
NO ONE should lose their child, then be dragged through court, and
lose their home and ALL of their savings in a span of two years.
She has not had the chance to grieve the loss, she has NOT had the chance to even remotely breathe, you can't breathe when you are underwater drowning.

If you can spare EVEN 2.00 you have NO IDEA HOW MUCH THAT HELPS.
IF YOU CAN SHARE THIS STORY, that would be tremendously helpful.
If you would like to talk about this situation a little more in depth I would love to speak with you. [Telefonnummer bearbeitet] (sheena)
