Unexpected moving expenses
We never wanted to do this, but due to the unexpected circumstances our family is in need of some help.
We are the Agostino’s, we’re a small family facing some unexpected life changes and need a bit of support. Due to covid I lost my father at just 49 years old on his birthday March 29,2021.Unfortunately as hard as it was handling that news we recently found out we not only lost our father/grandpa, but we’re losing our home as well.
We were staying at my dads to save up money to get ourselves on our feet. My dad was the super of our building so it was going to be easier for us not having to pay rent staying with him for some time. We weren’t here long. On February 27th my father was admitted to community hospital with covid/pneumonia . None of us were concerned because we would speak to him everyday. He was getting discharged at one point and he was told he was going to come home. On March 29th he went into cardiac arrest and passed away. We were devastated. My father John was a great dad, he was a great grandfather and left behind so many people who loved him.
To keep it short, because my father was the super of this building and we were staying with him and he was helping us, we now have 30 days to give up our home because the landlord needs to replace him and needs the apartment for a new super. We are not getting evicted, but we have to leave and we were in no way shape or form ready for this. Everything happened so quickly and so unexpectedly.
We have 2 young kids (Riley & Jack) and my husband (Christopher) and I (Alexis) are both hardworking EMT’s for the city of New York. During this time as well in February I had a work injury that put me out on workman’s comp for 2 months leaving us short. We know covid has affected so many people and we know there are so many others struggling during this time like we are and we’re just reaching out for some help during this time.
We are planning on relocating to Florida to give our family a better quality of life and to be able to comfortably live. Anything donated will be going to expenses of relocating, groceries and generally starting a new life down south. NYC rent is so unaffordable for a family our size and there is nothing here for us anymore. So we appreciate anything really and thank everyone who has already helped us.
