my name is jay (they/them) and i'm a black, queer, non-binary parent. i put this together for our family-- miguel (he/him)--a mexican, trans, queer parent, azul (they/them)--an amazing 3-year-old persn who loves cats and dragons and playing music (although their taste when listening to music is questionable), milkshake-- our 9(?)-year-old potato of a dog, amtrak and pretty rock-n-roll-- 10-month-old kittens/cats named by azul and our 4-year-old housemate, and our 7 aquatic frogs and 3 giant shrimp. we are asking for help to pay rent/bills/groceries. we have always lived paycheck to paycheck. that changed when miguel got a job with the aspca. we had a little breathing room, not much but at least we were able to be at least 2 or 3 checks away from having to get creative to pay bills/rent. miguel was let go last spring. it was fucking awful for so many reasns. he got severance, which has been how we have been managing. until now. i have a job but it's part-time so we don't make enough to pay rent AND eat, have lights on, etc. (ha we also have a bunch of overdue bills). we are both still looking but haven't been able to find anything yet. we paid januaury's rent and bought groceries for the next few weeks, but we def will not have enough for groceries and rent for feb. so many ppl are trying to stay afloat rn. it's difficult for both of us to ask for financial help when they are people still trying to dry their shit off from the rain last week, but here we are. whatever you're able to donate is helpful. we appreciate you.
