Ken's battle against STAGE IV lung cancer.

Donation protected

Ken is an amazing person who is a husband, father, son, brother, friend, and many more amazing things! He is a supportive and loving husband and father to our 2 boys, Colin, who is 21, and Korbin, who is 17. Ken loves unconditionally and is always there when we need him. He is everything a wife/mom would want in a marriage and for their kids. We have been married for 24 years this coming September. Ken needs our support and lots of love as he has been facing a huge life challenging medical concern.

At the beginning of March, we learned of a grapefruit-sized mass in Ken's right lung along with enlarged lymph nodes on the same side after dealing with a lingering unexplainable cough from initially getting sick in early January. After no help from antibiotics and no sign of improvement, the doctor did a chest x-ray. This will forever be a day/week we won't forget; it led to CT scans and being sent to the hospital. Ken was referred to an Oncology team at Texas Oncology where he has already had a lung biopsy and PET scan. The scans show cancer of the right lung, small intestine, and liver. At this time, we do not know the medical plan yet as this is all new information to us.

Ken has already been out of work for over a month per the doctor and has been told to stop all physical strenuous activity. This is huge for Ken because he LOVES being active with our family, our boys, cycling, and doing his trucker thing (He is a delivery truck driver for R+L Carriers). His trucker call sign is #thecyclingtrucker. We have never asked for any kind of financial help, but at this time, we need it for medical bills and to replace Ken's income being reduced from being out of work. This has been devastating news to our family and boys. We love helping others and are always helping when we can.

We appreciate your support and any donation during those challenging times. God bless you!

Thank you,
Celia, Colin, and Korbin Smith.

On Friday, April 5th, Ken went back to his oncologist at Texas Oncology in Frisco to go over the results from his Lung Biopsy and PET Scan. After going over the results with the oncologist on Friday, it was confirmed that Ken does in fact have STAGE IV Cancer in his right lung, small intestine and liver. Unfortunately the cancer is too far advanced to be surgically removed and at this time Ken will be starting immunotherapy in the next week. This is definitely not the news anyone wants to receive about a loved one; we are completely devastated and trying our best to stay strong and optimistic. Ken is strong, brave and such a loving husband and dad….it hurts us to know the challenge he and us as a family will have to face. Right now we are taking it day by day. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for all your support!
Love,
Celia, Colin and Korbin
