Asking for help is very difficult. My pride has kept me from asking for help before now. I can no longer afford to be prideful! I went into work on the Monday after Thanksgiving to a company I have been with for 19 years. I was told my services were no longer needed. For 19 years of service I was given no warning, no severance, nothing.
My wife, a public-school teacher of 27 years and I were blessed with the adoption of our daughter more than 12 years ago. The Lord has continued to bless us and help our Gracie Girl by putting amazing doctors and surgeons in our lives that have helped her survive 3 anaphylaxis allergy reactions and more than 14 procedures/surgeries for a cleft palate and jaw surgeries so she could breathe. She was only a couple of weeks old when she had her first surgery. In April of 2018 the doctors had to break her jaw and insert a device to help her grow jaw bone. The surgery was done to help her with her airway issues. She was struggling with breathing issues especially at night, making it difficult for her to sleep. She had a follow up surgery at the end of June to take the device out. Gracie was home bound from mid-April till the first of July. She is doing amazingly well! We are so amazed at her strength! This summer she only needed a small ear surgery.
The Lord has also seen me through some major surgeries including back surgery and shoulder replacement. My last one was a total knee replacement this past summer. I am doing okay now and searching for a job.
We also help my wife’s parents who live with us. They have helped us so much through all these surgeries. Now we help them. My mother in law is currently struggling with her memory.
My mom was recently placed in a nursing home out of state. We used our little savings to travel to see her over Thanksgiving. We are hoping it isn’t the last time we will see her. Family is extremely important to us.
We need help! My wife’s cousin and some dear friends have helped us with Christmas for our daughter. We are so truly grateful!
We need more help to keep our home, pay medical bills, and make some much-needed repairs to our home. Our home repairs have been put on hold due to my daughter’s surgeries last spring and summer then mine this summer. We had to put them on hold again to see my mom. Now we are down again with the loss of my job.
I am feeling very vulnerable asking for help, however, a friend recently told me by not asking for help, I am preventing others from being able to be a blessing.
Now being just days before Christmas, I have once again put my worries in the hands of my Savior, Jesus Christ. With the encouragement of friends, my family and I are reaching out for help.
