Thuy and Shawn have dedicated their lives to helping young people build stronger, healthier communities and are always the first to step up and take care of their friends and loved ones. Now they need us to help them out during a rough spot.
At the beginning of a busy 2019 summer session at SF Skate Club, Thuy was admitted unexpectedly into the hospital, as most of you know. After many tests and lab workups, the medical staff at UCSF have determined she has early-stage cancer. It is treatable, and Thuy is on her way to recovery. In the meantime, even with health insurance, the medical costs are already piling up.
Most of you know that Thuy left her teaching job to support Shawn and pursue her passion of youth development at SF Skate Club. SFSC is also going through some exciting structural changes and it's a double whammy to have one-half of Team SFSC out of commission for even a short time while the organization is growing & fundraising for its future. Every little bit our community of friends can pitch in to support Thuy's recovery will also help to stabilize the work of SF Skate Club until she's back on her feet.
Whether it's a couple of months or through the end of the year, we want her to take every last minute she needs to get strong and healthy -- without worrying about paying rent, fundraising for SF Skate Club, healthcare costs, or basic bills. No rushing, no additional stress, no anxiety - not worth it.
Of course, here we are now in 2020...Thuy's treatment continues at UCSF and we've all been hit with a Coronavirus pandemic shutdown! Crazy times indeed, but the community has a beautiful way of pulling through for each other in times of need. So THANK YOU.
THANK YOU for your positivity and support, thank you for being in it with us for the longish haul, and who knows where the end of the rainbow will take Thur and Shawn and SF Skate Club - hopefully a pot of gold including a full recovery and a vibrant business backed by the community! Here for it!
