Thank you so much everyone for donating!! You are such a huge help in Zuko's care, we appreciate you and your kindness so much!

Here is the breakdown of costs for his vet visits:
On May 1st, we noticed blood in Zuko's urine, so that was the first vet trip for him doing urinalysis and x-rays with a bill of 637.99. The vet suggested surgery for close to $1700. We then discussed it and when we talked to vet for our decision to do the surgery, her partner said to try Zuko on Science Diet CD for a month and take another X-ray at that time to see if it dissolved at all. We listened to the vet and were relieved because my Dad is the only one with a job right now. So we buy the pricy ($200) special wet and dry food and start it because that's what Zuko needed. Then, on May 13, we noticed he could not urinate, and that was another trip to the ER vet to say surgery was needed that trip was $244. The next day, we tried to get him to his vet, which they would not take him because he was blocked now, so he stays at ER vet for 3 days. But before surgery, he had to have an echocardiogram to make sure his heart murmur would not be a problem which was $500.00. Then, Zuko's total cost of $4356.00 for the 3 bladder stones to be removed. We brought him home Thursday. On that Sunday after we brought him home is when Zuko had his seizures. He had five within two hours, three really bad ones and two less severe ones. It was $1832 to the ER vet, and then we transported him to Blue Pearl for neurology, which ended up being $4885.39 for his MRI and spinal tap, all in a matter of 3 weeks total!

My name is Jade Danhausen and this fundraiser is for my cat Zuko, who is 4 years old. We (my mom and I) met Zuko as a stray kitten who was all alone and afraid of people, but we could see that he needed help. We took Zuko into our house and took care of him as our own. When we had picked him up, Zuko had an infection in his eye and it started to get worse as time went on and eventually something had to be done to make sure that he would be able to live comfortably.

It was around when the pandemic started so I used my stimulus check I got in order to pay for the procedure to be done to close up his eye as it would often get infected and dirty with it being just his empty eye socket. This change made Zuko really happy and after me and him grew very close after. After that, I went through some very hard times in my life and I felt I had no one to help me through things while I was alone at home, but Zuko was there for me. He knew when I was sad, anxious, fearful, he was there. When he was in need I helped him, and when I was in need he was there for me.

Zuko recently has some health issues recently that have been hard to navigate what to do next. At first it started with bladder stones which caused a blockage in his urinary tract. We had to take him to get an emergency surgery to get those removed. After coming home from the surgery we noticed Zuko had been bumping into things and walking against the walls as if he had a hard time seeing and was just acting not like himself. After being home for three days after the surgery Zuko had his first seizure, we rushed him to the emergency care and had 4 more seizures in the next two hours. We were so scared for him.

At the emergency center they made sure he was ok but felt that he could be best cared for at a neurological center for animals, so there we went. Going there we found out from an MRI and spinal tap that during his bladder stone surgery he had a stroke which caused his seizures. Now Zuko is on Keppra for at least 6 months to make sure he has a full recovery. Since he only has one eye, the fact that he is unable to see fully has been really hard for him to navigate. He's a really playful and cuddly cat, my mom always says he is like a puppy. Seeing him act so down and sad has been really hard for us, especially with him being just a baby still. We have done everything we could to make sure that Zuko could get the best care possible because he deserves it. Pets we have had in the past have had seizures and it's a very scary thing to see happen again to Zuko. Zuko is extremely lucky that he is only blind as the doctors told us that it could've been a lot worse for him. We are praying for him every day to get better. We love you, Zuko.
