17 year old Sophie Yourch, daughter of Chris and Jackie Yourch, started having seizures on Sept 29, 2020. After 3 ER visits to the local hospital and being sent home without a diagnosis, she was finally ambulated to Lucille Packard Childrens Hospital at Stanford on Oct 4. After 5 days of challenging testing, with little relief,, she has been diagnosed with a type of autoimmuune encephalitis. It has been an agonizing couple of weeks for Sophie, her Dad Chris, Mom Jackie, and brother Sean, as well as the rest of our family This diagnosis will require Sophie to undergo some treatments that we are hoping will help her and she will be in the hospital for another 3-4 weeks. After she gets out she will require another 3 months to 1 year to rehabilitate and recover. Dad and Mom will be staying at the hospital for the duration as they need to be close. This type of condition is alarming and and scary and having both parents there assists in the healing and comfort. There will be medical bills that need to be paid and easing this worry a bit for them helps so much as they need to put their energy into Sophies healing Prayers are ALWAYS welcome and helpful and I thank you for those .
