This fundraiser is to help Natasha Acevedo with her medical related expenses as a result of COVID-19. She asked that we share the following message:
"I want to say that COVID19 is a real disease. I’ve seen how people have begun to let their guard down. I want to say that I’m grateful for my family, my brothers, Ariel and Jose, and I'm grateful to my parents, Lourdes and L'Ariel. I’m also grateful to my partner, Natalie, and her family. I love all of you and I want you all to know I love you because I don’t know what will happen. It’s been 3 days since I’ve been in the hospital having seizures and heart problems. My issues began on May 8th when I was first hospitalized for being unable to breathe and experiencing all COVID-19 symptoms new and old. Although my tests continue to be negative, nothing else explains what is happening to me and my doctors, neurologists, cardiologists can’t seem to find a solution. If we lived in another country where healthcare was a right and not a privilege, more resources would have been available and the care I’ve been needing since May would have been resolved. Three months later, however, I’ve gone to the hospital a total of 5 times and with a total of 7 days spent and I will stay in the hospital again tonight. With my insurance denying the headache medication I need and with my insurance failing to cover the over $17,000 I’ve accumulated. I know that I need to get well but the fight back to health is my first challenge and my second will be my fight back to financial security. All during a time where many are jobless, where many are falling ill themselves, and all during a time where whats needed the most is a healthcare system that provides healthcare to everyone as opposed to bankruptcy. I write this because I’m mad and I’m tired. How long will we allow city governments, state governments, and federal governments to push the agenda of corporations, consumerism, and greed, as opposed to the well-being of individuals and communities?"
