Hello Friends!
This fund has been created to support an amazing human that has endured more pain than one can imagine. Miss G has given her heart and soul to help children flourish and blossom, not just by teaching them, but because she genuinely loves and cares about their wellbeing. She has dedicated her life to making children smile and ensuring they have every tool available to reach their potential. She is the person you want on your child’s team and on your side. Students love going to school, because they know Miss G will be there cheering them on! And as a mom of one of those children that has been so fortunate to be her student for multiple years and as a colleague on her team, and even more importantly, as people who get to call her their friend and their person … we are beyond blessed to know that G-d was listening to all the prayers (especially the students) and she has the beautiful gift to live the wonderful, amazing life she deserves.
Her story:
In the summer of 2021, Miss G went from an unassuming early education school teacher to a medical question mark. She started to feel pressure and pain in her abdomen and then some distension in her midsection. After a few weeks, she was admitted into the hospital and liters of fluid were drained. Several doctors later and a transfer of hospitals - her liver was suddenly compromised and in distress. Clots were removed, medication prescribed, and she was released with the hope that ongoing care would set her back on a path to health.
For the coming weeks and months, doctors performed a bevy of procedures from routine draining, multiple diagnostic tests, and work to clear the conditions that led to her liver coming under such duress. After months of potentially optimistic news regarding various lab results, doctors discovered that her liver had again clotted and they would need to accelerate her path to a liver transplant.
On November 6th, doctors found a matching liver and successfully performed the transplant and two weeks later, Miss G finally came home. Unfortunately she still faces quite the road ahead … from an extended recovery physically, mentally, and, of course, financially. Her family had not yet come to grips with the costs to date, let alone what might come with future medication, procedures, and therapies. We are organizing this fundraiser to assist Miss G with medical expenses, prescription medications, and any other expenses related to her successful recovery.
Any and all support you can provide will be more than greatly appreciated! And if you haven't already, please consider updating your organ donor status when you get the opportunity.
Thank you for your love and support.
