We Love You Gabi

Donation protected
Our beloved Gabi passed away in the early hours of March 10, 2022 after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving wife and parents.

When we, Gabi’s family and friends, think of Gabi we feel her endearing qualities. The attributes that caused every person to admire and love this sweet gentle person are numerous. She was a rare gem whose beauty illuminated the world with love, patience, and a quiet strength that draws you into lasting friendship. Gabi was always in love with biology and the natural world, with a special passion for plants and birds. She took this passion and graduated from the University of Texas in 2009 with a biology degree and has been working as a wildlife biologist full time since then. Always quick with a smile and joke, Gabi’s fast-paced work took her across Texas and the country. She would always delight in sharing her hard-earned knowledge and relished the chance to learn more about our natural world.

Gabi was diagnosed with cancer in November 2020, and underwent two exhausting rounds of chemotherapy during the past two years. She never complained or waivered. She spoke in confidence with a smile hidden behind a mask that was revealed by the sparkle of hope in her eyes, dreaming of her future that got stolen. She endured this difficult time of intense treatment with grace and humor. Her wife Jayne stayed by her side and honored her wishes to pass gently at home, with only family gathered, Gabi's fierce independence and dignity intact. She lived life on her own terms, hard and fast always springing on to the next great adventure with Jayne, family, and friends in tow.

Due to the years-long treatments and end-of-life medical care, Gabi and Jayne faced increasing medical costs. This care also meant that both Gabi and Jayne could not work full-time. This fundraiser is to help offset those costs already incurred and help ease the financial burden for Gabi’s family. Please help Gabi and Jayne by gifting your resources to help alleviate stress in this unbearable situation and shower Gabi’s memory with the love she so selflessly has given us.

Donations left over after necessary medical costs and bills are paid will be split and donated to https://www.hope4moc.org/ and  https://www.clearityfoundation.org/, two organizations that help patients with ovarian cancer and provided much support to Gabi and Jayne on their journey.
