Sarah Sharpe - Breast Cancer Battle!

We’re raising money for our dear friend, she has a battle in front of her as she tackles an aggressive form of Breast Cancer. For those that aren’t aware, cancer treatment is very expensive, which is so unfair for anyone that has to endure it given how stressful getting a cancer diagnosis is. Once diagnosed, one of Sharpie’s first thoughts was how can she give back and what can she do to make a difference. A week after her first Chemo treatment she did a fundraising walk/run in Melbourne, raising over 16k for BCNA. Her focus for 2021 throughout treatment again is not on herself, but on trying to make a difference, and along with her friend Clare they are trying to raise 100k for McGrath Foundation by New Years Day. Due to a gap in the health care system, one of the chemotherapy drugs which may help Sharpie have a better chance of beating this beast is not covered by the PBS, nor is it covered by private health insurance. After chemotherapy comes surgery. This again is very expensive with the medical costs charged by the anaesthetists, cancer surgeon, plastic surgeon and by the hospital itself, well over and above what is covered by medicare or insurance. We know what she does for all of us, now it’s our time to throw our arms around her. She will hate that the focus is on her and that we have created this page but we love her and are here for her!!
