It is with loving and gracious hearts, that the friends of Kim O’Brien are setting up this page in the hopes of helping Kim through this difficult period of medical and financial uncertainty. Please help us rally around Kim and her family to help provide financial security for the next couple of months so that she can focus her energies on getting well.
Kim O’Brien is an active, single, mother of three children who was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer in December of 2015. In addition, Kim was a newly divorced with her primary source of income was providing childcare for families in the community. Despite undergoing extensive treatment over multiple months, Kim was able to secure part-time employment at the Sewickley Valley Emergency room to help ensure financial stability for herself and her children and provide for the necessary medical benefits she would need.
Last month, sadly, Kim and her children learned the grim news that her cancer had returned requiring additional debilitating surgery leaving Kim incapacitated for weeks and unable to work. In addition, she will begin extensive chemotherapy treatments which will most likely leave her unable to work for many months given her long treatment plan, compromised immunity, and weakened physical status.
Many of you have reached out asking what you can do to help, and for your kindness and concern, Kim and her children feel truly blessed.
After careful and humble consideration, her family has agreed to allow her friends to establish a GoFundMe page as this has been determined to be the best way to help Kim and her family offset the financial uncertainty they will experience when Kim is unable to work while enduring treatments for the months to come.
It is our hope that together as a community, we can help to offset the loss of wages Kim will experience over the next four to six months to eliminate any financial worry that she might carry, thereby permitting her to focus her energies on her recovery.
