Margaret Swicegood and the Swicegood family have been pillars of the Charlotte community for many years, making a lasting impact on friends, neighbors, students and the families of those she’s taught. As deeply as Margaret has blessed us all with her kindness, her compassion, her sense of humor, and her spunk, now it is our turn to come together to bless the Swicegood family with our support, love, and prayers.
At the end of 2020, Margaret was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer and underwent extensive testing to discover that, sadly, the cancer has spread throughout her body, including her lungs and brain. After a hospital stay and rehab, Margaret is now home, receiving in-home OT and PT. However, as her strength, mobility, and comfort continue to decline, the Swicegood siblings know they have a tough road ahead. And this road is made even more complex and difficult as the family faces the financial burden of cancer treatment, medicines to keep Margaret comfortable, and unfortunately very soon, terminal care.
We all love Katie, Jeffrey, Sarah, and Margaret so very much. This devastating news and the heartbreaking road ahead is enough for these treasured siblings to take on right now. We humbly ask you to please consider contributing to this fund, to help offset Margaret’s astronomical medical and terminal care expenses.
Katie will be the direct beneficiary of these funds and will determine how the funds are utilized. There is a great deal of uncertainty around what Margaret’s expenses may cost, but if funds are raised beyond what is needed, the family plans to donate them to charity in Margaret’s honor.
Above all else, please lift the Swicegoods up in prayer during this time, and surround them with love and support to give them strength in the difficult days ahead.
