In this time of need and crisis I find myself having fallen into deeper cracks in the system than I imagined possible. The plan was to finish the semester and move to Oregon to start a nonprofit organization that serves as a traditional artisan skills preservation resource center, work space, tool library, and web sales portal for older persons in need. The oncoming retirement crisis has blown up exponentially in the wake of the pandemic. The retirement picture for my generation is bleak: 85% of the post-boomers have less than one year of retirement savings . There is a clear need for this and I believe the plans are solid. I still plan to achieve this goal. The funds requested are in part to help me start this journey. I encourage inquiries and collaboration moving forward.
In the meantime this happened:
I lost my job in January and decided to focus on finishing school and get a job in May- I did not know I could file for unemployment, so I did not apply. Then I got the flu in February and was ill for a month, and then the pandemic hit. The cupboards and accounts were bare then and now food insecurity has only increased. I have not gotten a stimulus check. I have been living on food pantry food for three years as a student and now that is getting harder to get. I am desperate. In the pre-pandemic world I spent two decades doing volunteer work for non-profits and paying taxes. I was at the end of my rope before the pandemic and I am now to the point of desperation. I need help getting papers filed and I need money to live on. I hope I will be able to rejoin the workforce but as a disabled older adult I am not hopeful. Please, I have payed a lot forward and I need help!!! Sorry for being real on FB Please share and repost.
