The city of New Orleans lost a true luminary this past weekend. Eliot Brown – artist, carpenter, designer, mischief-maker, and so many more things besides – passed away on Saturday, September 27, tragically a victim of gun violence in his longtime neighborhood of Bayou St John. A beloved husband, son, and brother, and friend to all, Eliot was taken from us far too soon.
We join with Brooke and the Browns in their grief: a creative, generous soul, whose artistic talents were matched only by his selfless personality and his boundless wit, Eliot left an indelible mark on all those who knew him and loved him. As members of his community we have created this fundraiser to help offset the expenses of Eliot’s memorial and provide for Brooke during this unimaginable time.
Currently the need is to cover loss of income, living expenses / household, and emotional support needs during this period of transition. Details of services and arrangements will be announced as soon as possible, but in the meantime please give generously to help Brooke, and please share this far and wide. Until otherwise communicated, this GoFundMe page will serve as the primary platform for all announcements and updates going forward.
If ever those twinkling eyes inspired you, if ever one of his creations amazed you, or if ever that deep and boundless laugh elicited one of your own, please consider giving. No one will ever be able to replace Eliot, but we can still honor him and provide for those he loved. Thank you.
