We Lost Everything to a Fire. Help My Family Rebuild.

On January 24th, our childhood home burned down. Our parents lost 50+ years of memories, photos, a wheelchair, clothes, and most of our history. Nothing survived the fire. We included a photo to show the level of the fire's destruction.

This house was a home to our parents, who are elderly (in their 70s), and our disabled brother. It was also their grandchildren's home away from home (photos are of them celebrating one of their birthdays at grandpa and grandma's). They have limited financial means, so we are trying to help them secure a long-term home so they can start to rebuild.

Unfortunately, in that fire, we lost our beloved kitty, Misty. Misty was a sweet, shy cat that loved to climb onto our shoulders and is in the second photo. We're incredibly grateful that my parents and siblings made it out alive with only minor burns.

Our home was a small farmhouse built by my dad many years ago. They lived humbly and worked hard, with my mother working as a substitute teacher and my father for the local township. On humble earnings, they raised us but at the cost of limited savings.

On Saturday morning, during the coldest period of the winter so far, a window shattering brought to my dad's attention that the roof had caught fire. They quickly dialed 911, but the call failed to go through. Everyone worked to get out of the house, and my dad, thankfully, was able to get my brother out given his mobility issues.

Needless to say, my family is devastated. While my brothers and I are dealing with the loss of our memories, my parents are now also saddled with the burden of being homeless. We hope to help change that.

This GoFundMe will help them start to rebuild. We cannot replace the memories (our baby photos, mementos from our great-grandparents, etc.) or the artwork our parents made over the years (they are both talented artists). However, together we can give them hope that they can return to the property they love and have cared for for decades.

With 10k, we can set them up with temporary housing for the year while they figure out their options.

Above 10k, they can start replacing some of the more expensive necessities, such as a wheelchair for my brother.

With 50k, we can put a down payment on a home for them to rebuild on the property. Anything additional will be utilized for building the property and necessities such as beds, kitchenware, etc.

Every single donation helps put a roof over my family's head and rebuild a life lost. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read this and for any contributions.
