We Lost Everything in a CarAccident Please Help Us

Hi everyone,

We’re two young Italians, Giulia and Michael, who came to Australia just a few weeks ago, full of dreams and excitement for a new beginning.

After arriving in Perth, we began our journey north toward Broome to find farm work, hoping to earn some money and extend our visas.
But after only ten days in Australia, our lives changed completely.

We were in a terrible car accident.

We’re alive by a miracle, but our bodies and hearts are broken.

I (Giulia) fractured five cervical and three thoracic vertebrae.

Michael fractured three lumbar vertebrae.

And a friend who was with us in the car broke three ribs.

Doctors told me I won’t be able to work for at least two to three months, and Michael for about a month and a half.
We have no family here, and our savings are not enough — life in Australia is very expensive, and without income, it’s hard to get by.

After the accident, I was completely immobilized.
At the Newman Hospital, doctors warned me that if I wasn’t transferred immediately for scans and treatment, I could become paralyzed.

They arranged an emergency air transfer from Newman to Port Hedland, and then from Port Hedland to Perth, all while I was alone, under morphine, terrified, and far from everyone I loved — until I finally reached Perth, where some friends came to give me comfort and support.

Meanwhile, Michael and our friend were desperately trying to reach me.
Despite their broken bones and severe pain, they used the last of their money to buy bus tickets to Port Hedland — the fastest and cheapest way they could find.

As I lay in a hospital bed, trembling and scared, the only comfort I had was knowing they were coming for me.

But just thirty minutes before they arrived, the medical team came to take me — once again — onto a plane for another emergency transfer to Perth.
I remember crying and begging them to wait for my friends. I needed them so badly. But they couldn’t wait.

When Michael and my friend finally arrived in Port Hedland, I was already gone.
They were exhausted, in pain, and heartbroken — and then had to spend what little money they had left on an expensive place to sleep for the night, before paying for costly flights to Perth to reunite with me.

They also had to take care of all our luggage, which had been burned and damaged by fluids from the car crash.

Now we’re finally together again, but we’re scared, injured, and trying to find the strength to start over.
We have no home, no income, and no family here to help us through this.

The funds raised will go toward:
• temporary accommodation while we recover
• medical and rehabilitation expenses
• food and basic essentials
• transportation for medical check-ups

Every small donation — even the price of a coffee — means more than we can say.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing our story. It might reach someone who can help us get through this.

From the bottom of our hearts,
thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support. ❤️

With love and gratitude,
Giulia and Michael
