Help Mike Pender Fight Cancer

Our dear friend Mike Pender has been diagnosed with cancer in his right lung. Right now he has chosen to go the alternative route and do mistletoe injections, IV vitamins, and BEMER treatments. He is open to other treatments as well. It was shocking when he got the diagnosis, as he's never smoked or done drugs.
Those of you who know Mike, know he is an energetic, positive, and very generous person, the kind of guy who would actually give you the shirt off his back. He is going to fight this with the same determination. It is our mission to see him through this and help him in any way we can.
Mike has had several bad years in a row in his beekeeping business: bee die-off has made it barely profitable if at all. Your generous donation WILL HELP MIKE TO: buy medicines, get a decent water filtration system, get to the doctor, and handle travel expenses while he takes care of himself. Mike recently got MediCal (which does not cover alternative treatments), and he got food stamps as well.
We ( Tara and Cynthia) know Mike from his many years of selfless volunteer work with the Santa Maria Beekeepers and other associations. He is always ready to help anyone out at the drop of a hat. Need a ride home? He's your Designated Driver, even in the middle of the night. Car broken? He'll take a look at it for you, and never take money to fix it. Need a resource? He'll find it or know someone who knows someone. He's always been a minimalist, and lives off the land- you won't find him sucked into the technology (you won't find him on Facebook, and he does not have an email). He keeps his needs as low as possible, and always finds time and energy to help out other people.
Going to church with Mike you would he was a kid in a candy store. As the scriptures were opened up to the congregation, his giddy excitement over what God was teaching him "behind the scenes" made you wonder where your faith was at!
Mike's style has always been forest to table: he was hunting for food before he can remember. He was just telling us about dove hunting for dinner when he was a kid: gut the dove, puts the guts on a fish hook, and catch the next night's dinner with it! No waste. Mike is an avid sportsman, hunter, fisherman, and diver, a three-time winner of the Pacific Coast Championship Freediving competition. He has more life stories about his adventures than you would ever imagine. Let's keep the stories going!
