We Heart Cora & Morgan

Cora was born with a congenital heart defect called transposition of the great arteries (TGA), in which the two main arteries carrying blood out of the heart are switched in position. This causes a shortage of oxygenated blood flow to the body, so Cora can’t function as well as normal kids. When Cora was just a year old, she had two open heart surgeries to try to correct the defect and flip the arteries to their normal positions. She tolerated the surgery well, but unfortunately her heart just didn’t want to cooperate and work the way it’s supposed to. All of the stress on her heart has caused her to go into heart failure. Because of this, Cora was placed on the transplant list to receive a new heart, which can take years. Unfortunately at her most recent appointment, the doctor’s found that her heart was doing much worse than they had originally thought, so Cora will have to live in the hospital until she receives a new heart, which could take close to a year, maybe more.


Cora has an amazing mom, Morgan, who has gone above and beyond the normal roles and responsibilities of a parent. Morgan is a single mom, trying to go to school for social work, raise an almost two year old, and be that child’s personal nurse and doctor. Morgan and Cora will be living at Boston Children’s Hospital for the foreseeable future, and all of the expenses that come with that will be shouldered on Morgan alone. 


There are absolutely no words to describe what Morgan and Cora have gone through in two years. We are asking for your help in giving whatever you can to help take the financial burden off of Morgan, so she can focus on caring for and loving on Cora. Every dollar will go directly to Morgan to help with medical bills, supplies, food, and everything else she needs for the long road ahead.
