Richmond Exotics is moving - and we need your help to build our new home!

After two and a half years of running Richmond Exotics from our own homes — turning living rooms into reptile rooms, washing animal bowls in domestic sinks, and caring for every creature with whatever space we could find — we are finally taking the step we’ve dreamed of since day one. *We've secured a dedicated space for the rescue.*

This is huge for us. It’s emotional, surreal, and honestly a little overwhelming. But it’s also the moment we’ve been working towards through every late‑night feed, every emergency intake, every heartbreaking surrender, and every tiny victory. This new space means safety, stability, and a future where we can help even more animals who desperately need us.

Now we face the challenge of turning an empty shell into a functioning rescue centre — a place where animals can be cared for properly, where volunteers can work safely, and where the charity can finally grow into what it’s meant to be.

To make that happen, we urgently need to purchase a number of essentials, including:

- Racking for vivariums

- An industrial sink

- Two grey‑water tanks

- A kettle and microwave

- 2–4 tonnes of sand

- 2 tonnes of topsoil

- And many other practical items as we build the space from the ground up

As a small volunteer‑run charity, we simply don’t have the funds to do this alone.

This GoFundMe will help us cover the cost of these essential items and give us a small financial safety net during the first few months of the move. Every single donation, no matter the size, will have an immediate and direct impact.

Once we reach our initial target, this fundraiser will remain open to help us cover ongoing electricity costs at the new site — one of the biggest and most unavoidable monthly expenses in reptile rescue.

We are endlessly grateful for the support you’ve shown us throughout the early years of Richmond Exotics. We truly have the most incredible community, and we wouldn’t be here without you. This next chapter is the biggest leap we’ve ever taken — and we’d be honoured to have you with us as we build the rescue’s first real home.
