Hi my name is Elaine and I am setting up this fundraiser for my brother-in-law Kyle. Life has not been easy for Kyle for the last 16 years. With God's help he chooses to live each day with thankfulness. Life is a gift. How you live that life is a daily individual choice.
Kyle Mulvaney has chosen to let his life reflect that attitude, even through much personal trial and difficulty.
The beginning of the trials that brought him to where he is today started 16 years ago. He, his wife, and five young daughters were involved in a high speed vehicle accident in July of 2009. This accident left him with quite a few injuries, the most severe being a broken back.
Over the next few years of surgeries, therapy, and rehabilitation, there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding his recovery and mobility. One thing was remained clear, pain and suffering were now part of Kyle’s every day life. He could no longer work his old job as a foreman, let alone hold any other kind of job due to pain and limited mobility.
Though Kyle and his family searched for solutions and opportunities to find relief for his ever increasing disabilities, the public and private surgical care available in both United States and Canada just did not have a promising solution for his complex situation . Affordability was also a hurdle that had to be overcome, as because of being on disability since 2009, there was no extras to save for a surgery that could cost tens of thousands of dollars; Kyle and his wife still had 5 young children at home to raise and care for on this fixed income.
With all of these things against him, Kyle still tried to live as best he could through the daily, ever present pain, doing everything he could to keep his body as healthy and strong as he could, despite battling severe muscle atrophy.
15 years later, having been diagnosed with multiple hardware failures/breaks, severely herniated disks, debilitating scoliosis, nerve damage, and daily increasing pain and immobility, he has felt the door open to look at out of country surgical options, as he had only heard “no” from every other Canadian doctor he spoke to or saw.
After much prayer and searching for God's direction, Kyle accepted the opportunity to have a GoFundMe set up to fund a pre-approved German spinal clinic surgery. The doctors in Germany have indicated that before any repair can be done, old hardware from previous surgeries has to be removed, creating a large financial burden of approximately $130,000. This amount would include surgery, flight and some physiotherapy after the surgery. We are so grateful that they have indicated that they can help Kyle!
That being said, no matter what this results in, Kyle has full peace in knowing that his Saviour has his best in mind; whether that means healing through the hands of a surgeon; or simply the strength to carry on in the body he has been given for this short side of eternity.
Kyle has prayed for God’s will in his life more in the last 15 years than ever before; he has prayed daily for the strength to surrender every new day to his Heavenly Father; he has prayed that God would use him in spite of him.
Life, no matter the pain, is indeed a precious gift directly from the Hands of God. No matter the outcome of this journey, Kyle and his family hope that individuals who come across his story can be encouraged and blessed; not because of how great they are, but because of Who is writing their story.
More than monetary support, the Mulvaney family covets your prayers at this time of decision making! However if you do feel called to contribute, we truly thank you for your generosity and commitment through this.
