We fight with Dorrian
Hi, my name is Regina McKnight and I am fundraising for my 30 year old daughter, Dorrian McKnight Wallace. Dorrian is the wife of Ira Wallace lll and the mother of three beautiful children, Alayzia (9), Ayzah (5) and Ira lV (2).
Dorrian has been diagnosed with stage 3b breast cancer. They told her that it was estrogen positive, which is the most common, but not in women her age. She was told that it is very aggressive and that the Genetic test revealed that it was a rare mutation that they had no further information about.
My daughter is an athlete, a very fierce and competitive athlete. I have never seen her in competition with a look of defeat on her face or in her body language. I am a coach and have taught all my athletes including my daughters that the opponents will feed off of your body language. You cannot portray defeat! You have to continue playing , fighting and competing until the buzzer sounds.
After several Dr.’s appointments, with heartbreaking results, I could hear the defeat in her talk, I could see it in her eyes, and in her body language. I had the kids at my house most of the time because she did not want her children to see her upset. We had a really hard time getting her to talk about the results. She did not want to talk about it. She would however text the information to us, but she would not talk about it. I saw my very vibrant, beautiful, outgoing daughter shut down. I reminded her that defeat is a trick of the enemy, and the Bible states that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us!
Dorrian had already had several test run and still needed many more. Every test here in Odessa was always about 2 weeks from the time the appointment was made. But, they kept telling her it was very aggressive. I knew that they were giving Dorrian their best, and I am grateful. But, the waiting was weighing heavy on her and us as well.
I prayed and asked God for guidance. I asked him to help me help my daughter. He gave me the name of a co-worker who had just gone through the journey that Dorrian is about to embark upon. She guided Dorrian through the registration at MD Anderson. The next day they told her they needed all her records scanned to them by the end of the day. She called ahead and all of the Odessa physicians and their employers were very helpful in helping her collect all her medical records in a timely manner. This was on a Friday. MD Anderson set her 1st appointment (COVID testing) up for that Monday. She flew to Houston on Sunday afternoon.
From Wednesday- Friday, they completed about 14 test on Dorrian. By Thursday, they had a diagnosis and a treatment plan in place.
The oncologist in Houston told her that her case has the Dr.’s baffled because she is so young. Therefore, they are going to be very aggressive with her treatments and that they will make her very sick.
Since the visit to Houston, I can see the fierce competitive warrior returning. I don’t hear the defeat in her voice or see it in her eyes or her body language. She is now openly talking about it and preparing herself for the battle ahead. I see her putting on the whole armour of God.
On Friday, July 9th, she will have the 1st of 16 chemo treatments. After the 1st 4 treatments, the plan is to do surgery to remove the tumor. After the remaining 12 treatments, she will then start radiation treatment. After that, she will have to take a pill for the next 10 years. All of her treatments and surgery will be in Houston at MD Anderson.
your financial contribution will help with medical, travel and lodging fees. Gratitude to each of you in advance. Please continue in prayer for my girl, her husband, her children and us. Your prayers are definitely felt, keep them coming! I know that God is in control and we are standing on His promises and keeping the faith.
I thank Him in advance for his life-giving powers flowing through every cell in her body, cleansing, purifying and restoring her to wholeness and strength for service in His kingdom
in the mighty name of Jesus
Amen
