My sister, Yolie is a 42-year old devoted wife and mother of 3. And she has been aggressively fighting metastatic triple negative breast cancer for 5 of the last 6 years of her life. Her cancer diagnosis is further complicated by having type 1 diabetes and only 1 functioning kidney.
The median overall survival rate for metastatic TNBC patients is only 9 to 12 months.
Incredibly, as a result of Yolie's determination and will to live for her family, the countless prayers from her #fightforyolie army made up of family, friends and supporters, and the medical care from the City of Hope, she is still here 4 years after being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer.
Because her cancer is very aggressive, she made the difficult choice to continue receiving regular chemo treatments indefinitely. She receives chemo other Tuesday at the City of Hope in Duarte, where she is being treated by Dr. Yuan Yuan , who specializes in breast cancer, and leads several clinical trials to find targeted therapies for MTNBC.
Yolie and her family are living in a 2-bedroom apartment in Barstow, CA. At this point, she requires full-time care, and her husband, Ed is the sole-provider for their family of 4. They also live in a rural part of southern california, resources and support are limited.
This is why, when you make a gift to this Go Fund Me page, you make an immediate impact.
Simply put, you fill the gaps. You put gas in their car and food on their table. You pay overdue bills and you enable Yolie to fill all of her prescriptions instead of only the ones she can afford. And most importantly, you lighten their increasingly difficult load.
Yolie has fought valiantly for 5 years.
Now, it's our turn to do the fighting for her, by making it possible to live what is left of her life surrounded by love, comfort and peace of mind.
That is why, If you are able to, I humbly ask that you consider supporting her and her family through an automatic monthly gift. But please know that no matter how you give, or how much you give, we are infinitely grateful for every single penny.
On behalf of Yolie, Ed, Daniel, Ryan, Marley, and our entire family, thank you for your unwavering prayers, love and support, and for the bright light you have shined on them from day one.
(Yolie's proud sister)
