We Don't Talk About Godspell - a short film

Hi! My name is Stevie Jackson and I am raising money to make my short film, We Don't Talk About Godspell.
We Don't Talk About Godspell is a short comedy about an intrepid student reporter who sets out to uncover her school's most closely held secret. It is loosely based on a real mystery from my real high school.
About Me:
I'm an actor, writer and producer in Vancouver, BC, Canada. My previous projects include co-writing, co-producing, and starring in the award-winning short film Honestly Charlotte, as well as its spin-off webseries. This will be my first time directing a film, which is part of why I'm fundraising - I'll need to surround myself with a great crew, and those folks don't work for free. Nor should they.
I'm a proud member of UBCP/ACTRA. My television credits include the Hallmark film Match Up, roles on series including Somewhere Between and Supernatural, voices on the animated series Kolakucoa, and a number of web series and short and industrial film projects. I also have a long history of independent theatre, where I've worked not only as an actor, but as an assistant director, producer and stage manager. You can check me out at my website or check out my IMDB profile . Or both!
Why I'm Fundraising:
To make this film the way I want to - which is to say properly and legally, with a professional cast and crew and all associated permits, equipment, and post-production, - is going to cost about $25,000. I am aiming to raise a portion of that here. I will also be putting in what I can personally as well as pursuing other sources of funding, such as grants. It is probably going to take some time, but why not get started?
What Your Money Will Pay For:
Cast and crew wages
Camera and equipment rental
Location rentals and associated permits
Insurance
Transportation
Craft Services/catering
And that's just production! Post production expenses include editing, colour grading, sound mixing, music rights, and more.
This project will be produced under a union (UBCP/ACTRA) agreement.
How Do I Know If This Thing's Any Good?
Great question! The script has been very well received. It had a successful reading at the Cold Reading Series here in Vancouver in April of 2021 and is currently on the festival circuit in the short screenplay category. So far it is an official selection of the following festivals: Venice Shorts, the Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards, the City of Angels Women's Film Festival, and the Houston Comedy Film Festival, where it is also one of only 4 finalists in the International Short Script category. It has been submitted to several more festivals and I'll update when I have new info.
Thank you for your help and generosity! Let's make some art!
