Well friends, here I am again! Humbly and passionately reaching out for help on behalf of my brother, Erik. As many of you know, he has been fighting Leukemia for over 2 years now. During that time, he has had many ups and downs. There have been scary moments, praise worthy moments and all sorts in between. Since this journey started, he has been treated at John's Hopkins in Baltimore. The same hospital and the very same doctor as our late brother, Elliott, had been treated at.
This past week, Erik was told by his Oncology doctor he was "in trouble", and not in the innocent funny way we wished it was. Erik was told that they had exhausted all of the options for continuing to manage this disease or get it under control. He was encouraged to go home and enjoy whatever days, weeks or months he had left with his loved ones.
I cannot explain what a devastating feeling it was to hear these words-once again.
BUT!!! GOD IS SO GOOD! When one door closes another one opens and thats exactly what happened. Within 2 days of Erik being told to go home and enjoy what you have left, MD Anderson Cancer Center, the number 1 hospital treatment center for cancer in the world said, "come on down!" We sprinted through that open door, praising God for this opportunity.
Within hours of the call, he was on a plane to Houston, Texas and meeting with the doctors and a treatment plan was made in less than 24 hours. We never know what the future has in store but this feels like a second shot at life.
With all that being said, the cost of this life changing news is high. With Erik being unable to work and his wife having to take off work so much- their finances are taking a huge hit. Between regular monthly household bills and the extra burden of medical expenses, travel expenses, lodging, food and all other expenses in-between- it is overwhelming to say the least. Our short, very short 2 night trip to Houston was well over $3000.
Which is why I'm humbly reaching out for any help. We know that everyone is on their own journey in many ways so I ask that you prayerfully consider giving. Even more important I ask that you passionately pray for healing in Erik as well as strength, wisdom and guidance for him and our family. We could not fight this alone and are truly thankful and blessed for so very many of you all.

In Christ awesome love,
-Jess
