My name is Danny J. Mbanginu. I'm a 21-year-old filmmaker from Romford.
When I was 16, I wrote a script in my bedroom about two young detectives going undercover as students to solve a murder.
At 18, I co-directed, acted in, co-edited, and composed the score for that film—managing 26 cast members and securing a real school to film in.
At 21, that film—'Immersed In Shadows' —is having its World Premiere at The Lumiere Cinema in a 240-seat room. With a red carpet. Formal dress code. Champagne reception. And a post-screening Q&A, available for booking at the Lumiere Cinema Website:
We've been listed on The Lumiere Cinema's official website. We're in talks with Havering Daily News to publish our story. And in December 2025, Idris Elba interviewed me and told me: "You inspire people."
We did all of this with no budget and no connections. Just a story we believed in and a refusal to wait for permission.
