Let’s Save Christine’s Family Home

Donación protegida
Christine’s mom, Annette, became a first-time homeowner at the age of 81. Regrettably, Annette passed in March of this year and her passing has been a devastating and startling loss for her family.

She had went for a standard tooth extraction but got an infection from the procedure. Her cancer reactivated around the same time and the prescribed infection medicine ended up weakening her immune system, causing her unexpected death.

The house has become Annette’s legacy to her daughter, Christine, who shares the house with her dog and cat, Rosie and Punkin.

Recently, times have hit Christine hard, and she’s been powerless to make the last two mortgage payments on her mother’s house.

Through endless uphill negotiations, the bank gave her one last deadline before she stands to lose everything her mother has left her.

Everything will be taken away December 31st.

Meet Christine, a Kind-Hearted Volunteer Firefighter

Christine is 51 years old and a volunteer firefighter for the big island of Hawaii. She’s been a volunteer firefighter for over 9 years, helping keep her community safe. She tries to make every call and puts forward every effort to save her neighbors’ property, because she knows everything they own is on the line.

Personally, I’ve come to know Christine through her livelihood, building affordable miniature homes for those passionate about tiny-living and those who need affordable housing options.

They Will Take Her House

It’s painful to imagine what will happen if Christine can’t pay in time. With no where else to turn, she’ll have no choice but to move into her car.

The bank will take her home as well as every family keepsake which has been handed down over the years.

It’s still undecided what would happen to Punkin and Rosie, because these two “siblings” don’t get along very well; they may not be able to accompany Christine together in the car’s small space.

I couldn’t bear to imagine losing my mom, my home, my family’s mementos, and my two beloved pets all in a year.

She’s Tried Everything

Christine has exhausted every available option.

She’s tried to take on extra remote work, but the money is inconsistent and unsustainable. She’s unable to refinance the mortgage, because it’s in her mother’s name. She’s already borrowed all she can from caring family members. She has nothing left lying around which she could sell.

Her last hope is this final deadline she has negotiated with the bank.

Thankfully, We Have a Chance!

If the bank was willing to wait a little longer, Christine does have more work coming her way in January, but the bank won’t hear her out. She has to pay the balance due before the end of December, otherwise it will be too late.

If we can help Christine make this December payment before the deadline, it may finally be smooth-sailing from here. And Christine won’t have to sleep in her car!

How Will Your Donation Be Spent?

Your kind donations will go towards paying off Christine’s bills, debt, and her day-to-day living expenses so she can make it through to January.

If we’re able to raise $5,500 before the December 31st deadline, Christine will be able to keep her home! And if we can raise $10,000, then the next few month’s worth of bills will be paid and Christine can rest easy from her stress and anxiety.

Thank you so, so much for taking the time to read Christine’s heart-breaking story. Please consider sharing this page and giving whatever amount you can afford to, because it all adds up.
