We Are Waylon Strong

Hi
My name is Heather and I am a friend of the family. This is such a trying time for this young family and Patsy Cassels and I want to do anything we can to take the worries of financial stress away and allow these new parents to focus on their baby boy. We appreciate any and all help during this difficult time.
On February 18, 2022, Brittany and Nate Adkins were very blessed when their little boy, Waylon Nathaniel, entered this world. They were so excited to be able to bring him home and start their lives as a family of three. On February 26th, a Dr appointment to check into a really stuffy nose that was causing trouble with eating, turned into Waylon being life-flighted to the NICU unit at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. The Dr had taken a blood test to check for an infection and found that Waylon’s platelet count was critically low.
After two platelet transfusions, along with being on different antibiotics, Waylon’s platelet count has risen and continues to rise on it’s own now. He is fighting meningitis along with a staph infection. All of the test results aren’t currently back, but praying this is it. The type of antibiotic has been changed and Waylon will be in the NICU for at least another 14 days during the full course of the antibiotics. He is doing better every day and getting stronger every day. He is eating more on his own, but still needs supplementing from IV’s.
The support from family and friends and the prayers being said for Waylon are definitely being heard and answered with every little improvement he makes. The Ronald McDonald House has been a wonderful place for Brittany, Nate and other family to get rest and refreshed. Waylon is definitely in the right place for the care he needs to be able to come home. He is strong, Waylonstrong!
Many friends and family have asked how they can help. We felt this was the easiest way for people to help the family out, so we put together this gofundme for their family.
