Help African's Tears Centre recover from a Home Invasion

Donation protected
PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS A NEW APPEAL USING A PREVIOUS FUNDRAISER. THE DONATED AMOUNTS WERE 2-3 YEARS AGO.
This is an emergency appeal from Jospin Katendere, the team, and the displaced children they care for at African’s Tears Centre in Goma, the DRC.
Although they only moved into this house several months ago, are now facing an urgent situation. Several weeks before the M23 rebels invaded Goma, armed thieves attacked the center, they took everything and had shot our friend Shadrack who is still in the hospital for treatment.
By trying to get an affordable home for the children, they rented this house, a little bit away from the very populated quarters.
This has made them all very vulnerable, and the children are very traumatised from the home invasion, where they saw Jospin tortured and Shadrack shot, as the bandits were trying to get more information regarding the few valuables they had, mostly phones and iPad that were used to educate the children.

To assist in the healing and welfare of the children, we needed move to another house in a place that is more secure. A house in the city center became available that costs $US200 per month, the landlord requested a 6-month guarantee so the total is $US1200.00. After the invasion of Goma, food and water became very expensive, and the savings were used.
Included in the amount is the cost of replacing educational materials stolen by the bandits.

Unfortunately, our financial situation does not allow us to carry out this task without help. That is why we are appealing to all people of good will, as well as NGOs and partner organisations, to provide us with financial support. We need these resources to find a new home where we can set up our centre and continue to welcome the children.

Because the DRC is on the US sanctioned watchlist, Christopher Hardwick from Australia, a dear, trustworthy friend of more than 5 years, has set up this fundraiser. All money donated will be sent to his bank in Australia, then it will be transferred to the Orange Money account of African’s Tears using Remitly money transfer service.
