· On March 19, 2020 at only 36 years old, my brother Aaron was admitted to the ER for what he thought was severe dehydration.
· On March 20, 2020 after being admitted, scanned and biopsied, Aaron was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.
· On April 9, 2020 after weeks of testing and appointment with various specialists, Aaron was staged 1a.
· On April 16, 2020 Aaron had surgery to implant a port in his chest for chemotherapy.
· Between April 22 and June 10, 2020, Aaron completed 4 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy.
· On July 17, 2020, Aaron was given a “whipple” surgery, where they removed the head of his pancreas, gallbladder, 8 inches of intestine, bile ducts and surrounding lymph nodes.
· On August 1, 2020 Aaron went in to have his staples removed and receive his biopsy results. His surgeon advised that did not have clear margins on his pancreas where the tumor was removed and multiple lymph nodes also tested positive for carcinoma.
· On August 27, 2020 Aaron went in for full body PET scan.
· On August 30, 2020 the results of the PET scan were in and we were notified that Aaron’s cancer had spread throughout his pancreas and metastasized to his liver and left lung.
· On August 31, 2020 Aaron’s diagnosis was modified to stage 4b Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer.
· On September 16, 2020 Aaron was accepted for a national clinical trial at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital (UAB).
· Aaron will begin his first round of chemotherapy/immunotherapy through the clinical trial at UAB on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
Aaron has not been able to work since he began chemotherapy in April, 2020, leaving his wife, Kelly, to be the sole provider for the family, while also running their two boys Evan (11) and Riley (9) to/from school and Aaron back and forth between appointments. While the prognosis is not good, Aaron is NOT giving up and will continue to fight. If you are able to contribute and help provide some financial relief for Aaron, Kelly & their boys, we would be forever grateful.
