Dear world,
My name is Chloe from the UK, and I write to you in desperation, and with a heavy heart, on behalf of the Abu Taima family from Gaza.
We have all seen the kind of horrors that cannot be comprehended over the last two years from this small patch of land that bleeds; and though it did not seem possible that it could have worsened, somehow, it has.
The messages I am receiving from my loved ones in Gaza are truly tearing my soul apart, and I am powerless to stop their suffering.
Just a few examples:
‘We are dying’
‘Can anyone hear us?’
‘My children went to sleep crying from hunger’
‘I have not eaten for 3 days’
‘I don’t have the energy to type’
‘We are starving’…
At the present moment, the only intervention I can offer is financial support, to combat the cruelest facet of this brutality thus far:
Starvation.
Unfortunately the prices of basic necessities have skyrocketed, and become extortionate.
Absolute essentials such as flour, baby formula, nappies, tins etc have become so expensive that a month’s worth of money is gone in one day.
People are collapsing in the streets, and entering states of delirium from the depth of their hunger.
The continuation of 22 months of bombardment that the people of Gaza have endured has already left them weary and without hope in our humanity. Now imagine that they are facing an attempted erasure on an empty stomach.
How can you cry for your martyred loved ones while starving?
How can you search through the rubble for their bodies while starving?
How can you comfort your crying children while starving?
How can you endure the scorching hot days and bitter cold nights while starving?
How can you treat a tsunami of injured patients while starving?
How can you report the news and call out to the world while starving?
How can you convince the rest of the world who watched for nearly two years that your lives matter while starving?
The Abu Taima family are in need of your assistance.
Their house was targeted, reducing their home and memories to stones and dust. Now live in tents, although perhaps ‘surviving’ is a more accurate description, as there is no joy or comfort in this existence.
With nine children, and one in infancy, it is critical that they be given the opportunity to at least find nourishment.
The family and I call out to you now, as a final plea for mercy, from a people who have nothing left.
Please find it in your hearts to imagine yourselves in their situation, and what it takes to have to reach out to the rest of the world for the basic right to survive.
We humbly ask that you support our campaign.
Any and all donations are welcome, regardless of size.
Sharing the fundraiser is also hugely impactful and greatly appreciated.
I cannot bear to watch my friends suffer without trying to do what little I can. Please help me.
Please help us.
With the kindest and most hopeful regards,
Chloe
