Corey and I are running the Belfast Marathon 2026 to raise money for two charities that are very close to our hearts.
The two charities Corey and I are raising money for are: Headway UK and Vasculitis UK.
8 years ago Charlie’s Nanny suffered a traumatic brain haemorrhage which has changed her life. A brain haemorrhage is a life threatening emergency involving bleeding in or around the brain caused by ruptured blood vessels. My nanny spent 6 months in hospital, 1 of which were in intensive care where my nanny had to fight everyday. Headway UK are an amazing charity that help to support individuals who have had brain injuries and their families through the hardest parts of recovery. Headway also aim to improve the lives of individuals after brain injuries. My nanny can now live her life to the fullest after experiencing and living through her traumatic brain injury.
In March 2025, Corey’s mum took extremely unwell. She was admitted into hospital where we found out she had Vasculitis. Vasculitis is a group of rare diseases that cause the body's immune system to mistakenly attack and cause inflammation in the blood vessel walls. Corey’s mum spent 2 months in hospital, a week of which in intensive care fighting everyday. Vasculitis UK is another amazing charity that raises awareness of this very unknown disease and supports the individual and their families throughout their recovery. The vasculitis UK also funds research for treatments of this disease. Although Corey’s mum is still recovering, she is getting better and better every single day.
