Over the past 2 years, we have been dealing with major setbacks. From the issues with the supply chain, issues with delivery partners, lack of funding options, and more damaging, the loss of my Dad. Couple all of that with a new (and first) baby and an inability to work currently, and we have fallen on hard times, to say the least, and we are asking for help.
My name is Tracey and I am the founder of Perry Boyce, fragrances and gifts for the home. This is not something that I thought I would ever have to do, but alas, here we are- I need your help.
Perry Boyce was created back in 2016 with the idea of becoming a family-owned, generational wealth-building, online home goods store featuring candles, room sprays, and other novelty gift ideas. I started learning about the candle business and mixing scents while living with my dad in Brooklyn, NY- right out of his kitchen. Those were good times. I remember the fear but more importantly the excitement of creating something all on my own. My parents helped by encouraging me and also being my product testers. We’ve since grown into a small company, featured on multiple websites like cosmopolitan and refinery 29.
On September 15th, 2021, I lost my dad to suicide following a year of trying to get him the help he needed. It was a devastating blow in every way you can imagine. There's the pain of losing your dad, the anxiety of losing your silent business partner, and then the trauma of seeing it all unfold and ultimately end. My dad was one of, if not the biggest, supporters of this company, and for the longest time since I've felt an unmeasurable amount of grief and anxiety for both my own mental health and the company’s future. This led to a period of mounting bills and a lack of production.
A few months after his passing, I learned that I was pregnant and so my Husband and I were about to start our own little family. I tried really hard to keep up with the company, all while grieving and pregnant and dealing with all that comes with the two. I started struggling financially and couldn’t catch a break after being dealt hit after hit of life happenings. In October 2022 I welcomed my baby girl, Reina Adele, putting a pause on the company’s production.
Normally, I would participate in many in-person pop-up markets throughout the city but I had no materials, no energy, and no money to even get things going again. It became such a problem that I've accrued almost 6 months of past-due balances, including office rent, utilities, and orders (wholesale and online).
Your support will help us to clear out our current space, due to be moved to storage by the management office on 2/28. It will help us house all of our supplies and order more materials to resume production, thus helping us to get your favorite products back into stores and into your homes. Largely, this campaign will help to ease the mounting financial strain and uncertainties of the future of Perry Boyce.
Once we are able to get back on track financially, we will be reverting back to operating out of our home. While this may not be an easy feat with a newborn, we are committed to making it work. We’ve been here before, and we’ve learned a lot about what not to do and how to manage our expectations. I still believe that Perry Boyce can become the company I've always intended for it to be and I plan on making sure it happens, one candle at a time.
