We Are Gaza’s Youth, and We Refuse to Give Up
Donation protected
Hey there, I'm Mohammad Abuajwa, a Palestinian student in Germany, and I have come across a group of Gazen volunteers who want to help ease the current situation in whatever ways they can. Indeed, they are small, but the change they're making and the impact they're leaving behind is gargantuan. Below is their story to you. I hope you consider supporting their cause by donating, even with as little as you can. All the donations will be sent directly to them via PayPal. Thank you.
"Greetings all, we are a group of young men and women — students, dreamers, future leaders — between the ages of 15 and 25, living in Gaza, fighting for our survival every day.
When the war began, our lives completely changed. Our homes shook, our universities shut down, and our dreams were put on pause, but instead of sitting in silence and fear, doing absolutely nothing, we asked ourselves one question:
“What can we do to help?”
That question turned into action.
In the middle of this chaos, we came together as a volunteer team — not backed by big organizations or money, but by something even stronger: our belief that we still have something to give amid the chaos that is storming our home.
Indeed, we may not have much, but we have energy, skills, and hearts full of hope.
And we chose to use them.
What We Do:
Every day, we step into campuses, destroyed neighborhoods, and the hardest-hit areas to help families who have lost everything. We:
- Distribute food and clean water
- Give toys and clothes to children who haven’t smiled in weeks
- Create awareness campaigns about safety, hygiene, and health
- Listen to stories, comfort broken hearts, and simply show people they are not alone.
We're doing this while still being students. Some of us lost our homes and our loved ones, but we believe that helping others heals our pain, too.
What We Face:
Truth be told, it is not easy. We:
- Walk for hours, often in dangerous areas, because we don’t have transportation or fuel
- We work with bare hands, often without gloves, masks, or medical tools
- We’ve been turned away by scared families who don’t trust strangers — and we patiently earn their trust
- We face mental exhaustion, carrying the pain of our people while still trying to stay strong.
Our studies are on hold, but we’re still learning — learning how to lead, how to care, how to rebuild. Simply put, we're not superheroes. Far from it. We get tired, we cry, we break down. Then we get back up — because someone needs us, but right now, we’re reaching the limits of what we can do alone. Which is why we need your help.
We need:
- Transportation to reach more camps
- Food, water, and hygiene kits
- More clothes and toys for children
- First aid and protective supplies
- Emotional support tools for ourselves and those we help
With just a little more support, we can do so much more.
We reiterate that:
- We are not an organization
- We are not funded
- We are just youth from Gaza who chose action over fear, hope over helplessness.
