We are fundraising to try help Neil with his medical costs

As some people know at the age of 24 Neil was seriously unwell and was diagnosed with a rare hereditary genetic disease called Familal Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP).
This condition means that thousand if not millions of polyps appear in the colon resulting in a total colectomy (removal of the large bowel) to avoid cancer. Unfortunately these polyps can appear anywhere within the digestive tract and are known to turn cancerous in some areas.
Although as stated it’s hereditary it was not found in anyone before Neil therefore began as a gene mutation in Neil!
Neil has over the years undergone major surgeries to control the risk of getting cancer. Last year in May 2023 he had his stomach removed due to a change in these polyps that were in his stomach! After the surgery he was told that he actually had 3 tumours in his stomach which were cancerous and although all was removed he would need preventative chemotherapy to ensure it would not return. Unfortunately this September he was told that the cancer had returned and that it was treatable but not curable. Neil has now began treatment at Clatterbridge Hospital, Liverpool to try to control and shrink the cancer.
The family are looking into private medical care and receiving a second opinion on Neil’s diagnosis as well as further treatment to help the remaining family who have also been diagnosed with FAP in the future.
The disease has already been passed on to Neil’s daughter Ceri and Son Gareth and unfortunately we also know that Ceri’s oldest son also has the condition and are currently awaiting results for her daughter. At the age of 10 Gareth’s boys will be tested as well as mine and Ceri’s newest addition.
There are very few families that are affected by this disease therefore it is very difficult to find the specialist treatment needed.
After doing a lot of research we have found private medical care in London and Manchester who offer different forms of treatment, therefore as a family we want to give Neil the opportunity to seek treatment from these specialists if at all possible.
thank you so much
