How do you rescue 45 cats?
We are a retired couple living on a very limited pension. When we moved to our small rental near several farms, we didn’t just notice the cats… we moved into a situation where dozens of cats were suffering with no one to care for them. From day one, we had no choice but to step in. Nobody from the local farms was feeding, sheltering, or providing any medical care.
Here’s what we’ve done so far:
• We already had 5 rescue cats of our own.
• Suddenly stray and abandoned cats and kittens were coming by looking for food.
• We trapped 30 cats, had them neutered, and returned to their colony in the woods, halting the cycle of suffering.
• We built a sheltered feeding area (“Cat Café”) and heated sleeping boxes (“Cat Hotel”) to protect cats from harsh weather.
• Every day we launder their bedding, clean dishes, administer medicines and provide love. It is exhausting from 4am until 8pm every day.
• We recently rescued critically ill cats and an elderly cat in desperate condition came to us literally on his knees.
• Recently we TNR'd another 15 cats in another area!
• On top of that we feed several wild foxes 4 days a week.
Caring for dozens of cats, feeding them four times a day, providing medical care, and giving them a safe, warm place to sleep is a full time job. Nine cats sleep inside our kitchen at night, while the rest use the Cat Hotel and other shelters we built.
But we are struggling…
The cost of cat food and veterinary care is €1,200–€1,500 per month, which is impossible for us to continue covering on our small pension. We are exhausted, overwhelmed, and doing everything we can but these cats have nowhere else to turn.
We are reaching out for help so we can keep the support of these cats going. Your support will help us provide:
• Nutritious daily meals for dozens of cats
• Medical care for sick or injured cats
• Safe, warm shelters, including the Cat Hotel and Cat Café
• Ongoing rescue and neutering to prevent further suffering
Every donation… no matter how small… makes a real difference. Your help keeps these cats alive, healthy, and safe. Please consider supporting us, sharing our story, or donating supplies.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
