Support Build a Computer Training Center in Gondar
Donation protected
- Over the past five years, we have been engaged in revitalizing the elementary school in the Addis Alem neighborhood of Gondar, serving 800 students in grades K-8. Between fundraising in the US, the diaspora, and Ethiopia, plus support from a team qqqqqqqof local volunteers, we were able to
- build two new blocks of eight classrooms in 2022;
- add a new Francisca library building in 2023 with support from the DC-based Kemal Foundation (connected with the Saloon on U Street); and
- initiate in 2024 a family help program for ten families to provide $10 cash each month to the school's neediest students.
Now in 2025, we are raising funds to build a computer training school (ICT) for a cost of 6,000,000 Birr ($46,150). We have a new commitment of $28,000 from the Kemal Foundation, leaving $18,150 to be raised from individuals like you!
The school, upon completion, will serve up to 50 students at a time who have completed high school and are seeking job-enhancing skills. Classes will include basic computer skills, programming, using applications for office use, web development, etc. Teaching staff and internet access have been committed by the Gondar City Education Bureau.
Our goal is to raise $18,000 during the next 6 months
