Cara’s Fight

Donation protected
Cara celebrated the big 50 in November and alongside one of her lovely daughters Poppy, who had also just turned 18, they enjoyed many birthday celebrations together!

Little did we know what challenges would be faced by Cara and her family in the New Year, and following months to come.

In February 2024, after suffering with a number of frightening symptoms, our beautiful and courageous friend ended up in the hospital. Following a scan, our Cara was faced with the desperately devastating news that she has a brain tumour. As scary as this diagnosis was at the time for Cara and her family, they were told that the tumour was low grade and, reassuringly known to be, highly treatable and, highly curable. So there you have it, it’s going to be a rough few months but she will get through this, Cara was going to be ok, were the thoughts and feelings of Cara and those close to her.

As you would expect many phone calls and hospital appointments followed the diagnosis. During this time Cara was told that she would need to have surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible. There was not a great deal of urgency surrounding the proposed treatment, this gave Cara and all of those surrounding her, a ray hope, like a lifeline in a storm.

Fast forward to 24th April, almost 2 months following the diagnosis, Cara had her long and eagerly awaited surgery. Our brave and ballsy friend spent 8 hours in theatre 3 of which she had to be awake for, in the hope that all of the tumour could be removed, and she could begin her journey to full recovery, and put this living nightmare behind her.

The surgeons managed to get over 90% of the tumour which was the best news we heard in ages.

However, our good news was short lived when we learnt that it is not going anywhere, he is aggressive and stage 4 and will keep coming back!

As you can imagine we are not accepting this prognosis’s. Hopefully the chemo and radio will help "manage/slow him down".

In a second Cara’s life has been turned upside down as she has to live with this forever. Our admiration for how Cara is dealing with this turmoil is beyond words. The pain and heartache that Cara and her family have endured over the last few months is unmeasurable. Now it’s time to rally together and show our support to them during this time.

We have launched this Go Fund me Page in the hope to start raising as much money as possible for whatever Cara needs. Your donations will help support the family during this emotionally and financially challenging time. We are asking that you help take away some of the uncertainty that they face over the next few months, by making a small donation.

We hope that once Cara starts to feel better, It will also help fund family trips for Cara, Darren, H, Pops and Berry.

It will also allow them to consider other treatments options further down the line.

Thank you so much
