Hi, our names are Hal & Emilia and we need your help to make the world a kinder place for animals!
Hamsters are one of the most common and beloved pets on the planet (they are little teddy bears who can fit a whole picnic in their cheeks).
Yet most of the cages you'll find sold in pet stores and online are:
- Terribly made - escaped hamsters are a regular occurrence with cages made out of cheap plastic / wood
- Far too small - the minimum size enclosure for any hamster should be 100 x 50 x 50 cm but you still see tiny homes sold to families around the world
- Hideous - would you want one of those plastic and wire cages in your living room for 2+ years?! No thank youuuu!
So - our first mission at Bandaby is to make homes, not cages for hamsters. Homes that are:
- Rock solid - we use powder coated aluminium and acrylic to make sure they're safe and chew-proof! It's also super easy to clean!
- ❤️ Above the min. sizes - our homes are 120*60*70cm because your pets deserve more than the bare minimum!
- ✨ Gorgeous - we have worked super hard to make a home that's fabulous enough to sit proudly in any living room or bed room!
Our mission is much bigger than hamster homes! There's a big gap in quality + welfare across all hamster care products and the same goes for rabbits and guinea pigs too.
This is where you guys come in.
We are SO CLOSE to getting our hamster homes ready to manufacture and ship in January.
We've spent two years and all of our life savings to get develop the best possible homes for your hamsters. We've even taken out $30k of loans with the Virgin Start Up Bank.
Everything we have is going into covering the manufacturing + shipping bills for the first order of hamster homes. We are so so so close to our target and we're looking for a little extra help to:
- ️ Start work to develop our next product - a dust free, super soft, chemical free and GORGEOUS paper bedding
- Prepare to launch in America
- Ramp up production to make more homes!

Who are we?!
I'm Hal, one of the founders of Bandaby! I come from the world of Big Tech - where I've led teams in product and operations for Uber & Deel. But I'm an animal lover at heart and when I saw the huge gaps in welfare facing animals like hamsters, I couldn't sit back and do nothing.
I set to work - pouring 100% of my salary & life savings, giving up drinking and moving back home with my family so we could make the best hamster homes in the world.
I partnered up with Harry & Mark who run an industrial design agency - Beta Design Office - who brought our vision to life
Then came Andrea, an ex Art Director from Ogilvy, who created all of our branding (which I'm still totally and completely in love with).
Then came my co-founder Emilia who was the world champion roller skater and a world class operator from one of the biggest consulting firms on the planet.
Together we are working tirelessly to do better for animals that have been over-looked by the pet industry.
Providing an animal with a loving home is one of life's simplest and purest joys and we won't rest until the world is a better, kinder and more fabulous place for animals and their families ❤️
