Help Me Give My Daughter a Safe Place to Call Home
My name is Ryeleigh, and my daughter, Arahbellah, is 18 months old. For the past almost 10 months, we have been homeless after leaving an abusive relationship. Since then, we've been moving between friends' couches, hotels, shelters, and anywhere we could safely stay. My daughter has spent over half of her life without a stable home.
Every day, I do everything I can to build a better future for us. I enrolled in full-time university because I want to create a stable, independent life for my daughter. I've reached out to my county, applied for emergency housing, priority housing, rent-geared-to-income housing, and every program I could find. Unfortunately, because of technicalities and eligibility requirements, we've been denied every application.
I never imagined I would be in this position.
My life hasn't been easy. I grew up in a broken home, struggled with addiction for 10 years, and spent a decade caught up in the justice system. I fought hard to leave that life behind, and I have. Today, my focus is on being the Father my daughter deserves, the Father I never had. Of everything I've been through, nothing has been harder than not being able to give her the stability and security every child deserves.
Asking for help is one of the hardest things I've ever done. I've always believed in finding a way through on my own. But after 10 months of homelessness, we've reached a point where I can't do this alone anymore.
We have just over 2 days left before we must leave the shelter we're currently staying in, and I'm terrified that I won't be able to find a home for us in time.
Your support, whether through a donation or simply by sharing our story, would mean more than I can express. Every contribution will go toward securing safe housing for my daughter and me, helping with rent, a security deposit, and the essentials we need to finally have a place to call home.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Thank you for believing in us. Every act of kindness brings us one step closer to giving Arahbellah the safe, stable childhood she deserves.
