Sonyas Medical Fund

Hello! To anyone viewing this page my name is Lindsay and my I'm the daughter of the person which I'm setting this fund me page up for, Sonya. My mom Sonya Hewitt has been suffering with Chronic Pancreatitis and Diabetes for the last 15+ years of her life and recently her health has taken a turn for the worst. After several years of being in and out of the hospital with debilitating symptoms, she had an MRI about a year ago that showed signs of IPMN (pancreatic cancer). These small tumors were closely watched for the following months to see if any changes were occuring which would indicate "rapid growth" and sure enough after two months of screening we noticed that they were most certainly "growing" and they needed to be removed. My mom had the whipple procedure at JH University Hospital on 1/27/16 to remove parts of her pancreas, small intestine, lymph nodes and stomach. Since then my mother has had an extremely rough recovery with several visits to and from JH  and is currently hospitalized as I type this... with an internal leak. My mom has had to quit her job of 25 years, lose her health insurance, and has accrued several thousands of dollars in medical expenses. It has been extremely heartbreaking for our close family to watch our mother suffer, and these expenses are just adding to her stress and suffering. My mother would give the shirt off her back for anyone in need and now more than ever she could use some help from others.
