I’m reaching out with a very heavy heart to ask for your help for our son Joshua, someone very dear to us.
A few weeks ago, he started experiencing persistent headaches, dizziness, and episodes of vomiting. At first, we honestly thought it was just a regular bug or infection. We took him to the hospital expecting some IV fluids, medication, and to be back home in no time. But after assessing him, the doctors recommended a CT scan to investigate the cause of his symptoms and rule out more serious conditions. The results brought news none of us were prepared for: he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Since then, everything has changed. His days have become a mixture of hospital stays, medical consultations, scans, investigations, medication and treatment. His treatment plan includes chemotherapy and radiation therapy, together with continued monitoring and follow-up imaging. Some days are spent in the hospital, while others are spent at home trying to rest and regain his strength.
One of the hardest parts is watching him miss his family and the simple life he had before this. He misses being home, laughing with the people he loves, and having ordinary days without hospitals and treatments. The financial side of this journey has become very difficult for us. At this stage, the provisional estimate for his overall course of treatment and care is around $80,000–$100,000. We have been trying to meet the costs ourselves, and we have even had to sell some of our property to help pay for his care but even after doing that, what we have managed to raise is still not a quarter of what is provisionally estimated for the full journey. This is only an estimate and may change depending on how he responds to treatment and what further care his doctors recommend. If specialized treatment abroad eventually becomes necessary, we may have to consider that option as well.
We know this is a lot to ask, and we truly don’t take anyone’s kindness for granted. If you are able to contribute anything toward his care, we would be deeply grateful. We never imagined we would find ourselves asking for help like this. But he is fighting, and we simply want to give him every possible chance to keep fighting.
Thank you xxx
