Emergency Housing & Medical Relief – Help Us Stay Afloat
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with urgency on behalf of my family. After 32 years in the same apartment, we’re now facing immediate eviction and a financial crisis we never expected. We have just 3 days to prevent eviction proceedings. If we can meet our goal, we’ll not only keep a roof over our heads, but avoid having an eviction placed on our record, which would affect our future deeply.
This is deeply personal, but here’s our story:
We are a family of caretakers and givers. My grandmother served as a CNA from the age of 17 until my junior year of high school. My mother followed in her footsteps, becoming a CNA at 22—and she still works as one today. I started working at 17, and by the time I was 20, I entered the field of healthcare, healthcare administration, and virtual assisting. Serving others has always been in our DNA.
Today, I am the full-time caregiver for my grandmother, who now lives with dementia, a pacemaker, and a defibrillator. She needs constant care, and I do everything I can to support her, even while navigating the weight of everything happening around us.
Here’s what led to this:
- In September 2024, our landlord stopped collecting rent. Since then, the apartment has fallen into dangerous disrepair—mold, sinking floors, and leaks near electrical outlets in both bedrooms. Though we spoke to a lawyer, we learned that we didn’t meet specific lease deadlines, meaning we are now liable for $22,200 in back rent from October 2024 to May 2025. (As of 6/27/25, this amount has went down due to three rent receipts pulled for proof of rent payment, so the number has been updated and reflects down below and is notated)
- We had the rent saved. But due to an IRS error, those funds were wrongfully seized. That case is still pending (as of March 27, 2025), and the money has yet to be returned.
- We now face $2,000 in late fees, have accumulated $5,550 in debt from trying to survive after draining our savings, and still owe $5,000 — left on my grandmother’s pacemaker surgery.
Our total goal: $28,400
- $15,850 – Rent from May '24 to May '25 (Not including May,June or December proof with receipts of rent paid were given)
- $2,000 – Late Fees
- $5,550 – Loan/Credit Card Debt
- $5,000 – Surgery balance
We’ve always been the ones to show up for others. Now, we humbly ask for your help. Your support would allow us to avoid eviction, continue caring for my grandmother.
If you feel moved to help, please donate or share. And if you do donate, we would love to personally thank you. If possible, please message me here regarding your donation, so my family and I can reach out directly with our gratitude.
