DOUGLAS — A two vehicle crash early this morning on Wyoming State Highway 59 has resulted in the death of 43 year old Windsor, Colorado resident Shane Nett. The crash occurred at 1:00 a.m. near mile post 29 approximately 29 miles north of Douglas, Wyoming on WY 59.
While northbound on WY 59, Mr. Nett was driving a 2015 Ford Expedition. For reasons unknown, the Expedition crossed over the center line and entered the southbound lane of travel of WY 59. Kevin Hall, a 31 year old resident of Evansville, Wyoming, was southbound on WY 59 driving a 2013 Kenworth tractor pulling a trailer. Mr. Hall observed the northbound Expedition enter the southbound lane and swerved to avoid a collision. Despite Mr. Hall’s efforts, a crash still ensued. After the initial crash between the two vehicles, the Expedition overturned in the east ditch and caught fire. The Kenworth came to rest upright on the west side of the highway.
Mr. Nett sustained fatal injuries on scene. Five other passengers in the Expedition, ranging in age from 44 to 7 years old, were all transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas. Their injury status is unknown at the time of this release. Mr. Hall had no passengers and was not injured.
