I received a call Saturday morning from my Dad that my sister's house was on fire. I could hardly believe my ears and I frankly could hardly believe that it could be happening to someone I know and love. My Dad was a fireman and I just assumed that this happened to other people.
Not the case, my sister was awoken Saturday morning by her 10 year old son telling her that he saw smoke coming out of the garage door that leads into the kitchen. She ran downstairs opened the door to thick black smoke, with that she had him go wake up his other 2 brothers to get out of the house. Thank God Ben was up early Saturday. He saved his family. The fire started in the garage and engulfed the attached house, primarily the kitchen. It also traveled out of the front of the garage and engulfed her vehicle. They literally got out of the house with the clothes on their backs.
It appears that the fire began was an electrical fire, so one would think that with the fire being in the garage it would have damage but still have potential to be lived in, unfortunately this is not possible as every window was broken and there is extensive smoke and water damage to the entire first and second floor. The fire marshall also indicated that black mold will begin to grow almost immediately. She does have insurance so over the long term they will rebuild, however, she is essentially a single mom with three boys that rely on her income, They had already lived very frugally so this is putting them in an even more difficult situation financially. My hope is to raise enough money to help her with the deductible on the house and the vehicle and any unforseen expenses to get her back on her feet while the house is being rehabbed. (Examples of necessities: clothes for all three boys, and herself, shoes, toiletries, food, gasoline, dog food, etc.)
If you could donate even the smallest amount it would be a HUGE help to her and her three boys. Thank you in advance for your consideration of this fundraising effort.
