Remembering Michael Magana

Michael Magana is fighting Glioblastoma. His wife, my dear friend Adriana, needs our support to help him win and give their daughters Viviana and Ivy the great childhood and bright future Adriana and Michael have worked so hard for.

Michael's Story:
On Saturday night, Michael told his wife, Adriana, he had a headache and went to bed. Hours later Adriana woke up to the sound of Michael hitting the walls in their house- he told her he couldn't find his way to the bathroom. She tried to help him up but he said needed to go back to sleep and dropped to his knees. Adriana called her Aunt to stay with their sleeping children and rushed Michael to St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank.
A CT showed a bleed in his brain and a hematoma that had to be repaired with emergency surgery. The surgeon stopped the bleeding and removed the pressure on his brain, but found some abnormal tissue. A lab analysis revealed it was a Glioblastoma.
Glioblastoma is aggressive, and it means Michael will be facing months and years of medical treatments to stay one step ahead.
Right now Michael is still recovering from his brain surgery.  He has a drain in his head that requires that he stay almost completely still, which hurts- and the  inflammation makes it difficult to talk and his sense of time is not quite right. He needs Adriana's support and reassurance but because of COVID-19 restrictions,  they can only speak through Facetime. Michael tells Adriana he wants to play with Viviana, who is seven and in first grade, and cuddle Ivy, who starts T-K this year.
Adriana has taken time away from work to be Michael's support. Everyday she packs a bag and calls up to the nurses that she's outside and will wait to see if she can visit. Then she calls back every few hours until it's time to pick up Vivi  from school. She's been able to visit him for an hour here and there, and the nurses at St. Jo's are doing everything they can to keep them connected.
Michael will be fighting with all his strength against Glioblastoma, and Adriana will be giving everything she has to help him win. Neither of them can work right now, and while the laundry and the bills and the chores are piling up, there is no money coming in.
Our donations will help keep Michael, Adriana, Viviana and Ivy in their home. It will help give them healthy food to keep up Michael's strength, and it will keep the girls in clothes and supplies to keep learning at school and keep growing up.
It will help pay the copays for chemotherapy appointments, radiation therapy appointments, pharmacy bills, Adriana's car payments, insurance payments, and more.
We don't just want them to beat cancer, we want them to keep making happy memories and we want the girls to grow up with everything they need and that Michael and Adriana have worked so hard to give them.
