In Memoriam - Barbara Marion (Cook) White

Hi there... We are raising funds to place a memorial bench in a park at Leather City Common in Peabody, MA, in honor of our mother, Barbara White. Each summer, the city sponsors a summer concert series next door to where Mom lived, The Tannery Apartments. On summer Sunday evenings, it was one of her great joys to visit the park to enjoy dancing and singing to the music. She also loved the social part of the concerts and made new friends each week.

Her love of singing and dancing was in her bones. At a very young age, her mother would enter her in a variety show in East Boston, where she grew up. The grand prize was a bag of groceries, but she never knew what that meant for the family. She just knew she loved being on stage singing and dancing.

We are looking to raise $2600 for the price of a park bench through a program the city offers. Details about the bench program can be found here... Memorial Bench Program, Peabody, MA.

Mom didn't have a traditional burial in a cemetery, so we want to make this an alternative to a grave site where we... and she... can visit the park on beautiful days throughout the four seasons, and especially for her favorite summer activity - concerts in the park.
