The Trappist monastery, where our brother, uncle, friend and fellow worshipper, Stephen is in charge of the farm and was named Farmer of the Year in New Brunswick, Canada, experienced an enormous tragedy on July 11, 2017.
The entire barn and mechanic shop burned to the ground. In a small village, the fireman are volunteer, which means the firefighters must leave their jobs to get to the location of fire. This took over 30 minutes, in combination with high winds, resulting in rapid destruction of 2 buildings and $300,000 worth of farming equipment for which the monastery was not insured.
Our Lady of Calvary committed to a farming lifestyle to make its modest contribution to providing milk and chickens for consumption by the larger surrounding community.
The monks’ work on the farm was done in an atmosphere of prayer and silence. Who are the monks praying for? For all of the citizens of planet earth. We have all been touched by their lives of prayer.
We are looking for any size donation to help this small, vital, spiritually pure community of men, to help them acquire new farming equipment and the rebuilding of their barn and mechanics shop.
You do not have to be religious to contribute! It does not matter your race, ethnicity, gender or religion, we are all human and we all sometimes get down on our luck! So why not help, you never know when you will also be in need of a helping hand.
